COVID - 19 Policies and Procedures

The following policies and procedures have been implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 emergency is rapidly evolving. It is important to check this webpage frequently for updated information. We will continue to follow guidance from the Maryland State Department of Education, Office of Childcare and the Governor's Office. Please speak with the Director at each for center for specific facility changes. 

UPDATED COVID-19 Policies & Procedures

  • Operating hours: 7:00a.m. to 5:30p.m. (only during State of Emergency). 

  • Children attending Joy Kids Learning Center must arrive at the center no later than 9:00a.m. 

  • No one will be permitted to enter the facility beyond the designated drop-off and pick-up areas, except staff and children attending Joy Kids Learning Center. 

  • Children attending Joy Kids Learning Center must be free from COVID-19 symptoms. 

  • Children will have their temperatures taken upon arrival at the center.

  • Staff will take their temperature when they arrive and when they return from break if they leave the building 

  • Children 5 and older are required to wear a mask. Children ages 3 – 4 may wear a mask if that is what parents want

  • Staff will wear a mask at all times while in the facility and on facility premises. 

  • Joy Kids Learning Center has adopted enhanced cleaning procedures. 

  • Children and staff are required to wash their hands using CDC recommended handwashing procedures throughout the day using warm running water and rubbing with soap for at least 20 seconds. 

  • Staff to teacher ratio is 1:10 for children ages 3 to 5.  We are allowed to enroll to our typical capacity as long as we can maintain social distancing.

  • Staff to teacher ratio is 1:6 for children ages 2.

  • Classrooms have been arranged to enable physical distancing. 

  • For snack and lunches, no heated food. Food can be sent in a thermos to keep food warm. Lunch boxes will be sprayed with sanitizer.

  • TRAVEL:  Anyone returning from out-of-state should get tested for COVID-19 promptly upon arrival in MD and provide a negative test result before returning to Joy Kids.
